You might be thinking, What is a flixtor? Well, let me enlighten you. A flixtor is an inertial navigation system (INS) used by spacecraft to determine their position and orientation relative to the Earth. It was invented by John Robert Bolton at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in 1973, but the first successful tests of it only occurred in 1982 when it was used on the NASA Viking 1 space probe.
